48-year-old kenneth furr received 48 months in prison for his frenzy. authorities say he was off duty and trying to pick up a trans-gender prostitute at a drugstore. a later encountered led to furr being started, shooting at the prostitute who suffered injuries. the judge credited his time served. he is now out of jail on probation. a search is on for this man, an eye scaped patient considered a dangers to himself and others. clayton mullenhoff disappeared from washington adventist hospital last night and they say he has a history of violence. we have more on why police are so concerned. >> reporter: good evening. the tacoma park police department has conducted an exhausted manhunt using patrol officers and dogs from the canine tacoma park police -- from

washington adventist at about 9:20 p.m. detectives are looking for 27-year-old clayton mollenhoff. police call him a critically missing dangerous person. >> he has some issues with paranoia, a history of violence. he's been suicidal, a users of drugs and alcohol, and very aggressive and combative towards police officers. >> police say used extreme caution if you come in contact, and don't approach him. he was last night in we shod his picture asking anyone if -- have you seen him? >> no. >> reporter: do you recognize him? i'll look out for him. >> reporter: mollenhoff weighs between 170 and 200 pounds. a criminal report search turned of charges of assault, burglaries, drugs and disorderly conduct going back to 2007 and 2008. >> he has escaped in the past

landmark human trafficking case. the 32-year-old defendant earned the nickname the pimp on the pike after he was arrested for religioning a prostitution ring in rockville. we're learning he targeted a popular and busy shopping aemplt jaxxie benson explains. >> reporter: it's known for the dining and shopping, but many were shocked to learn it's also a place where homeless young women were prostituted and kept captive through psychological intimidation. a victims' advocate who worked with two of the women says knowshon took away their documents and they had no way out. last spring a guest at this hilton hotel in rockville pike complained about being solicited. the management immediately contacted police. detectives learn he used a

classifieds website to ties, and moved the women around from hotel to hotel in the more affluent areas the the d.c. suburbs. introduced as evidence, his texts to the women. one reads -- you got any dates? >> i think most people in the community don't understand the extent and growth that we've seen in human trafficking, in the washington, d.c. metro area, as well as in other areas. >> reporter: these are evidence of brightly color ecstasy pills. investigators believe they were available for purchase by customers. in addition to the five prostitution related charges he was also convicted of drug selling. >> it sends a very strong message that montgomery county won't tolerate taking advantage of vulnerable young women for profit. >> reporter: coming up at 6:00, we'll hear reaction from people

who live, work and shop in this area. the flu epidemic sweeping the country is expected to grow. the mayor of boston has already declared a public health emergency. the centers for disease control is going to release a status update. 41 states all right reporting widespread flu. health efficiency expect tomorrow's report to show it's spreading even more. doctors say this virus is one of the worst in years. still ahead at 5:00, doreen gentzler will have more. today the federal communications economic released its long-awaited report on what went wrong with 911 during the derecho. we are learning that 3.6 million people lost 911 in six different states. news4's i-team's tisha thompson is here. >> the fcc said there were 911 outages in several states, but no one was hit as hard as

northern virginia. they say far fax county alone had 1900 calls that went unanswered in the first 29 hours of the storm. verizon provides 911 service in our area. according to the report, verizon's two key generators, which have to work in tandem both failed during the storm. verizon then ran out of the battery power. as a result, today's report recommends the fcc require all providers to create reliability backup power by install extra generators, something verizon says it's already done. they also want to have providers conduct audits in better testing, they want to diversify systems, so a failure in one location doesn't lead to a breakdown in the entire network, and they want to require verizon and other providers to better notify 911 call centers of breakdowns. most of the call centers in northern virginia told the fcc they had to call verizon about the failures rather than the other way around. verizon initially told the fcc

star nfl linebacker junior seau was suffering a brain disease when he killed himself last spring. researchers at nih made that discovery after seau's family asked them to investigate the death. they found the nfl great had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or cti, i can say, common in people with, symptoms including mood swings, irrationality, and depression. his family said he exhibited all those behaviors prior to his suicide. tomorrow the centers for disease control and prevention will come out with their latest flu numbers, and they're

area, so a 20% increase on an already full system is a big deal. >> reporter: this year the vaccine is a very good match for the virus that's actually circulating. that doesn't always happen. the vaccine contains three strains, selected by sciencist its who predict which viruses will be going around. medical experts say the match is a good reason to get the flu shot. >> it's not too late, because the flu season can go and we've seen it in the past go into march and april. the best protection is still going to be to get your flu shot. >> nurse-practitioner carol coloma manages minute clinics in northern virginia. she says some clinics have started to run low on vaccine, but they're getting in new shipments every day. in the meantime wash your hands frequently and get plenty of recent. >> so exercise regularly, eating a lot of salads so i get nutrients in my system, doing vitamins are day, and washing my hands often. >> perhaps you're noticing

we will see some showers. because we will see some showers activity during the day. then, that front moves on through, and in comes of warm-up. temperatures on saturday, well above average by nearly 20 degrees, and that's not it. the coldest air of the season moving back towards parts of the west. for us it will be the warmest air so far this season. temperatures in the 50s and 60s on saturday. potentially upwards of 70 on sunday before we finally start to see that cold air make its way in here. that will be late next week. right now it does look pretty chilly. much more about that in the next couple days. tomorrow morning increasing clouds, temperatures 31 to about 39. tomorrow afternoon we will see cloud cover increasing and thickening. afternoon showers will be likely. so a bit cooler than it was during the day today, but the warm-up starts on saturday, 63 on saturday, 70 on sunday, but that's about it. a good chance of rain now, and

police tell us 27-year-old claden mottenhoff escaped from washington adventist hospital last night. police say he suffers from paranoia. they also say he carries weapons and has extensive mark arts training. a 16-year-old student is in custody for allegedly opening fire in a classroom this morning in a rural southern california city. one student was shot and is in critical, but stable conditions. police say a teacher and another faculty member eventually got him to put his shotgun down. the numbers are expected to show cases spreading. 41 states showing widepress activities. doctors says this virus hit earlier. signs of trouble in the infamous chandra levy murder case. tucked put the conviction in jeopardy. levy was an washington intern

who went missing a decade ago, and her body was found one year later. two years ago an illegal immigrant from el salvador was convicted. pat colin has details about strange new developments. >> reporter: it was one of the most sensational murder trials in the history of washington crime. now a troubling twist. shrouded in mystery. there could be frubl in the murder case which could impact the conviction of ink mar. sourceses say there's new information that could taint the testimony of an important witness in the trial. they say the new evidence was brought to the judge by prosecutors. here in superior court, sources say there have already been two secret meetings between the general, prosecutors and defense

attorneys about this new development. the prosecution has asked that the new information be sealed to protect the safety of those involved. notice it was back in november 201 that the defendant was convicted of killing chandra levy in rock creek park. chandra, a 24-year-old intern with the bureau of prisons went missing in may 2010. her body found a year later. the case got national attention after it was revealed that chandra was involved in a relationship with then california congressman gary condon. condon repeatedly denighted having anything to bo with her disappearance. he was never charged with any wrongdoing. guandike was doing time when he was charged in the levy case. he was convicted in part because

of the the testimony of amando morales, a fellow inmate who said guandike told him he killed chandra levy. he was sentenced to 60 years in prison. no comment today from the court. no comment today from the prosecutor. now sources say there's another meeting scheduled here next month. maybe then we'll learn more about the mystery evidence. maybe then we'll learn whether or not the defendant is entitled to another trial. live in superior court, pat collins, news4. the fbi is going beyond the usual wanted posters trying to track down bank robbers today it launched a new web side. bankrobbers.fbi.gov allows you to search a rob location and da date.

a 19 why are daycare worker is barred from being around young children after being charged with child abuse. >> police tell us the upper marlboro home was not a licensed daycare center, as tracee wilkins reports now, police got wind of the incident after a witness caught it on camera. >> trying to figure out what's going on myself. >> this mothers who did not want to be identified came to this upper marlboro home that had been operating as an unlicensed daycare, looking for answer and a refund. >> i've heard rumors i do not know what's true. >> police arrested jon thain cummings, a worker in the daycare and charged him with
